One of the first kindergarten essentials that your child will need are kindergarten read aloud books. These three sets of BOB BOOKS are exactly what helped our children become comfortable with reading out loud.

Be sure to buy these sets in particular because they are HIGHLY rated on Amazon due to their key nature of repetition in words and pictures.

With other books, I found that our kids would look at pictures that gave away the story without actually having to read what it said. However, these books have very few words on each page in which your child has to sound out in order to fully understand what is happening in the story. I LOVE IT!

2. Kindergarten Workbooks

Another VERY important kindergarten essential are kindergarten workbooks. I literally cannot recommend these enough!

The Big Kindergarten book is filled with 5 different sections for your child to learn and practice alphabets, numbers 1 – 20, shapes, math, and reading. It also has fun little puzzles and coloring pages!

The Best part is that this book has little certificates at the end of each section which gives your child a sense of accomplishment and we made it a BIG deal since we are homeschooling and there were no formal certificates and what not.

 

As I stated with the above book, it has basic math skills in it. However, this Kindergarten Math Workbook dives deeper into subjects like telling time and counting money in addition to the basic addition and subtraction that they are already learning.

I highly recommend getting this Kindergarten Big Fun Workbook for your child in addition to the other two workbooks mentioned. Your child will LOVE the fun puzzles, hidden pictures (this is my son’s favorite activity to do), and other activities like letters, phonics, sight words, etc!

4. Kindergarten Games

The next kindergarten essentials that you can incorporate into your curriculum are Kindergarten games!

This first game is PlayShifu Educational Games – Plugo Animals and is all about animals.

It teaches your child about the different calls in the animal kingdom, the food they eat, habitats, problem solving, and more!

My son and daughter love this game, especially since they don’t feel like they are “doing school”.

This Tacto Doctor is also made by the same company PlayShifu, but is the world’s first interactive doctor kit for kids.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME!

I love how this game gives different situations that my kids can learn, comprehend, and solve the problem of each patients’ symptoms.

Mind you, my kids are only 3 and 5 years old and they learned what “conjunctivitis” is lol!

This last kindergarten game is called “WhBingo” and we play this game every WEDNESDAY just to change up the pace during the week.

It’s great because it teaches our children the sight words “who, what, where, when, and why”.

The kids absolutely love this game and look forward to the middle of the week so that they can play it and learn more about who they see when they are out and about in the community!

5. Kindergarten Flashcards

Finally, the kindergarten essential that I think is most beneficial are these kindergarten flashcards.

These Star Right Flashcards are all-in-on meaning it includes everything such as sight words, alphabets, numbers, and more!

I’ve done my fair share of flashcard making/searching online but these by far are the most bang for your buck.
